About Suginami

Suginami is a leafy, very liveable ward where distinctive local culture has taken root. Asagaya and Koenji are full of vintage clothing stores, owner-run cafes, and live music venues, and they attract artists and music lovers. The Koenji Awa Odori is one of the largest festivals of its kind in Japan and draws big summer crowds. Green spaces such as Zenpukuji Park and Wadabori Park make it easy to slow down without leaving the city. Kichijoji is about 10 minutes by train and Shinjuku about 15; Shibuya is around 20 minutes and Akihabara about 30. Haneda Airport is roughly 50 minutes and Narita about 80. If you would rather experience relaxed, stylish everyday Tokyo than the main tourist circuit, Suginami is a great fit.
