AREA
Around Shin-Osaka Station on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen, a base for exploring Kansai.
Yodogawa Ward contains Shin-Osaka Station, where the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines meet, and it is Osaka's gateway. From here Kyoto is about 15 minutes and Tokyo around two and a half hours by bullet train, making it an ideal base for travelling across Japan. In summer the Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival lights up the riverbank with one of the largest displays in the city. The Juso district has a retro drinking quarter where local izakaya serve the deeper side of Osaka food. Yodogawa Riverside Park is a fine place for an unhurried walk in the breeze off the water. Umeda is about 5 minutes away by train and Dotonbori and Namba about 15. Kansai International Airport is roughly 50 minutes and Itami about 20.
