Konohana Ward is home to Universal Studios Japan and hums with visitors from Japan and abroad. Attractions built around Hollywood and anime characters keep children and adults absorbed for a full day. Hotels and restaurants around the park make the hours before and after your visit comfortable. Facing the Aji River and Osaka Bay, Konohana also has attractive waterfront scenery, and the Sakurajima area is a pleasant place to sit and watch the opposite shore. Osaka Station and Umeda are about 10 minutes away by train, with Dotonbori and Namba about 20. Kyoto is roughly 40 minutes and Kobe about 30. Kansai International Airport is about 55 minutes by train and Itami about 25. For a trip that combines the theme park with the city, Konohana is the best base.
