About Nasu
Nasu, in northern Tochigi, is a resort area rich in nature. Ringed by the imposing peaks around Mount Nasu, it offers a different landscape in every season: fresh green in spring, cool highland air in summer, fierce autumn colour, and snow in winter. The Nasu hot spring villages have a long history, with inns scattered through the area where you can properly unwind — soaking in an outdoor bath while looking out at the mountains is the kind of hour a trip is built around. Family-friendly attractions such as Nasu Animal Kingdom and Nasu Highland Park round out the options. From Tokyo it is about 75 minutes by Shinkansen to Nasushiobara Station and then roughly 40 minutes by bus, or about 2 hours 30 minutes by car. Narita is about 2 hours 30 by car and Haneda about 2 hours 40.
